West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Sukanta Majumdar launched a scathing attack on North Bengal Development Minister Udayan Guha, demanding his immediate removal from Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet for alleged “treasonous” comments. The controversy centers on Udayan Guha’s remarks regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’ in which the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader said that “Sindoor is being sold as a business.”
In a strong statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Sukanta Majumdar accused Udayan Guha of making “utterly condemnable” comments that “amount to treason.”
“Such behavior cannot simply be dismissed as perverse; it is an insult to every martyr who was killed in the Islamist terrorist attack in Pahalgam, an insult to India’s security forces!” he wrote, adding that Udayan Guha, “in his desperation to insult the Prime Minister,” had “not hesitated to insult the entire nation.”

Sukanta Majumdar asserted that those who refer to the “counter-terror operations of our brave soldiers…as ‘business’ have no moral right to live in this country!” as he unequivocally called for Mamata Banerjee to “immediately remove Udayan Guha from the cabinet” due to his “disgraceful and reprehensible comment.”
Responding to the escalating controversy, TMC sources told CNN-News18 that Udayan Guha’s remarks reflect his “personal stance” and do not align with the party’s views. They emphasized that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has consistently affirmed the TMC’s firm support for the Centre on national security matters, stressing that “there shouldn’t be any politics on this.”
