Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has asked the Maharashtra Legislature Secretary to conduct a floor test of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government on June 30 at 11 am.

Rajendra Bhagwat, Principal Secretary, Maharashtra Legislature, in his letter sent to Koshyari said, “A special session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Legislative Assembly) will be called on June 30 (Thursday) at 11 am with the sole agenda of a trust vote. Chief Minister, and the proceedings will end by 5 pm in any case.”

“The proceedings of the House will be telecast live and appropriate arrangements will be made for the same,” the letter said.

Describing the present political scenario as disturbing, the governor wrote, “There has been widespread coverage in electronic and print media that 39 MLAs of Shiv Sena Legislature Party have expressed their desire and decision to walk out of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.”

“After carefully going through all the material available before me including reports in the electronic and print media. I am of the opinion that a floor test is necessary to prove the majority of the Chief Minister to ensure that the Government continues to work with . Confidence of the House,” wrote the governor.

“In this background, on June 28, 2022, an email was received by 7 independent MLAs at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and other rebel MLAs, who arrived at the Kamakhya temple to seek blessings, told reporters that they would take part in the floor test tomorrow.

“I had gone to the Kamakhya temple for the happiness and prosperity of Maharashtra. I seek the blessings of Maa Kamakhya,” Shinde told reporters outside the temple.

When asked about the next step, the rebel leader said, “We will return to Mumbai tomorrow to complete the necessary formalities.”

On Tuesday, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis had met the governor and requested him to ask the Thackeray-led government to prove its majority in the assembly, claiming that the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress coalition government was 39 Shiv Sena. was in a minority as legislators.
