Bhai Dooj 2022: After Diwali 2022, the festival of Bhai Dooj is celebrated with great enthusiasm. While this festival is usually celebrated a day after Diwali, this year it is celebrated two days after Diwali due to solar eclipse. Bhai Dooj is a symbol of the undying love of brother and sister. On this day all sisters wish their brother long life and happiness. Since there cannot be any auspicious event on 25 October due to solar eclipse, Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on 27 October. According to the Hindu calendar, Bhai Dooj is celebrated every year on the second day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Kartik.
On Bhai Dooj, sisters apply tilak on the foreheads of their brothers and wish them happiness and prosperity in their lives. In return, the brothers give them some special gifts.
Bhai Dooj 2022 auspicious time
The second date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month will start from 2:42 pm on 26 October 2022 and end the next day on 27 October at 12:45 pm. So the auspicious time of Bhai Dooj is from 1:12 pm to 3:27 pm on Thursday.
Bhai Dooj 2022 Worship Method
As per the customs, sisters start their day by making ‘Chowk’ with rice paste. They also prepare a thali from the material required for the puja. Sindoor, rice, oil lamp and sweets are some of the essential items for the puja. Some also keep pumpkin flowers, areca nut and silver coin on their hands and pour some water on them. After this, apply vermilion tilak on the forehead of your brother. Feed your brother sweets of his choice. Brothers distribute sweets with their sisters and give them gifts.

According to the scriptures, it is very auspicious to celebrate Bhai Dooj in the afternoon. On this day sisters pray for brother’s long life and worship Yamraj, Yamdoot and Chitragupta. It is believed that Yamraj had come to his sister Yamuna’s house in the afternoon on this day, so worshiping Bhai Dooj in the afternoon is considered auspicious.
