Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has issued a notification on Monday saying that it will operate the university with full staff capacity. University opened through roster system due to COVID-19. In the notification issued by the Assistant Registrar (General Administration) Ashok Kumar Sharma, instructions have been issued to call all the staff members of all the departments from Wednesday, February 9. However, a decision has not yet been taken on the conduct of classes.
The official handle of BHU has shared the notification on Twitter declaring that every teaching and non-teaching staff will have to report to the university in full capacity and they will have to follow all the COVID appropriate guidelines.

Earlier, only 50 per cent of the university staff was coming to office and the remaining 50 per cent were working from home. The same was true of all departments, offices and faculties. Now according to the new notice, all the teachers, officers and employees have been asked to give 100% attendance at their workplace as before.

BHU Public Relations Officer Rajesh Singh has said that even after all the members have started work from the office, the respective heads of departments and in-charge have been instructed to strictly follow the Kovid-19 protocol. However, he also said that the decision on conducting offline classes is still pending. The decision on resuming classes will also be taken soon after any order is issued by the higher authority.
The Uttar Pradesh government has allowed schools and colleges to reopen from February 7. According to an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Awasthi, the schools have been asked to operate in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines. As stated in the order, schools and colleges, at the time of re-opening, must ensure that everyone adheres to the COVID SOP – social distancing and wearing of face masks. Schools, colleges were earlier directed to remain closed till February 6.
