Beer 91, owned by B9 Beverages, has partnered with Vahdum India owned by Vahdum Teas to launch a new beer variant ‘Chamomile Tea Lager’. The beer will be available only at a limited number of locations in Karnataka and has been mixed with green tea, chamomile and dried orange peels. “We are delighted to partner with them. “Consumers want to try new flavors and I am looking forward to taking tea into the beer space,” said Bala Sarada, founder of Vahdum Teas. Ankur Jain, Founder and CEO, B9 Beverages, said, “We believe in partnerships like these. -minded, homegrown brands working towards pushing the envelope to enhance bespoke experiences for consumers.” Bira 91 is sold in 18 countries and was established in 2015 and is backed by Sequoia Capital India, Belgium’s Sofina and Japan’s Kirin Holdings. In January 2021, Kirin Holdings announced a $30 million investment in the Delhi-based company. Vahdam also started operations in the same year and picked up 290 crore in funding and that it receives 95% of its sales through online channels.
According to consulting firm BlueWave, India’s beer market was worth $4.34 billion in 2020. The market is expected to reach $9.36 billion by 2027 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 12.0% during this period. On the other hand, revenue in the tea segment stood at $15.67 billion in 2022. The market is expected to grow by 2.71% annually (CAGR 2022-2025), research firm Statista said in its market forecast.
