In a major setback to the TMC, Alexo Reginaldo Lourenco submitted his resignation with immediate effect on Sunday after joining the Mamata Banerjee-led party ahead of the Goa Assembly elections on February 14.
Reginaldo was an MLA from Curtorim and a former working president of Congress before resigning as a member of the State Legislative Assembly and joining the TMC on 21 December.
He did not give any reason in the letter that he informed Banerjee about his decision to leave the TMC. Meanwhile, BJP-turned-Congress leader Michael Lobo invited Lourenco to return to Congress.
