Rs 2.61 lakh crore budget presented in Bihar Assembly
The Nitish Kumar government of Bihar presented a budget of Rs 2.61 lakh crore for the financial year 2023-24 in the state assembly on Tuesday. Presenting a budget of Rs 2,61,885.40 crore for the financial year 2023-24 in the House, Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said that compared to the previous financial year, there has been a decline in receiving assistance from the Center while the state’s record in central taxes has increased. I am doing. The proposed budgeted expenditure of Rs 2,61,885.40 crore for the next financial year is Rs 24,194.21 crore higher than the budget estimate of Rs 2,37,691.19 crore for FY 2022-23.
Choudhary said that the deficit in the financial year 2023-24 is estimated to be Rs 25567.84 crore, which is 2.98 percent of the Gross State Product (GSDP) of Rs 8,58,928 crore.
He said that in the next financial year, Bihar is estimated to get Rs 1,02,737.26 crore from the central government as its share of central taxes, which is Rs 11,556.66 crore more than the previous financial year. But only Rs 53,377.92 crore is expected from the Center as grants-in-aid, which is Rs 4,623.37 crore less than the previous fiscal.
Chaudhary said that in the budget of the financial year 2023-24, the maximum provision of 22.20 percent i.e. Rs 22200.35 crore has been made for the education department. After this, a provision of 15.19 percent of the budget has been made for the Rural Development Department and 8.19 percent for the Social Welfare Department.
