The gunmen first opened fire by targeting shops at Malhipur Chowk in Begusarai town. People ran here and there and shopkeepers ran away from their establishments.

After this the attackers moved to Barauni Thermal Chowk, Teghra, Bachwara and Rajendra Bridge and continued firing on the people.
