The district administration has banned the use and sale of eggs, meat and manure of ducks, poultry, quail and domestic birds in the affected areas. The ban will be applicable in Champakulam, Nedumudi, Muttar, Viyapuram, Karuvatta, Thrikunnapuzha, Thakazhi, Purakkad, Ambalapuzha South, Ambalapuzha North, Edathava Panchayats and Haripad Municipality area.

In the meeting, it has also been decided to complete the process of capturing and burying birds safely within a radius of one kilometer in the 10th ward of Thakazhi Panchayat.

The local police were directed to support these activities and keep a vigil in the area. The Animal Welfare Department will ensure the service of Rapid Response Teams and bury the birds.

Rapid response teams will be deployed in areas where bird flu has been confirmed and preventive medicines will be distributed to the people.

If the migratory birds were not infected with this disease, it has been assigned to the Assistant Conservator of Forests for monitoring and investigation. The Collector directed the Animal Husbandry Department to give daily reports on the activities to prevent bird flu.
