BJP’s PVN Madhav, who is the current MLC from North Coastal Andhra graduate constituency, will seek re-election for the second time for the March 13 election.
Announcing his candidature here on Monday, Andhra Pradesh BJP in-charge Sunil Deodhar said Mr Madhav will continue his winning streak as the BJP is the only option for good governance in the state.
He said that both the regional parties, YSR Congress Party and TDP, have miserably failed to govern the state and BJP being a national party can save the state from further sinking.
Criticizing the regional parties, he said that both YSRCP and TDP are family-run parties which depend heavily on community politics.
He also confirmed that the Jana Sena party would be his alliance partner for the upcoming MLC elections and for both general and assembly elections in 2024.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Madhav said that it was the BJP that had given a lot to the state, especially the northern Andhra region and Visakhapatnam in particular.
He said that many institutions of national importance like IIM or IIPE, from the railway zone, were approved by the Modi-led central government.
He said that even the two G20 summits to be held in Visakhapatnam were approved by the central government and the state has no role in getting them.
Mr Madhav also released a poster highlighting the achievements of the BJP and their contribution to the city and the north coastal region.
“We have stopped the privatization of DCI and we have also taken up the issue of VSP with the concerned ministries and talked about the merger of VSP with SAIL and NMDC,” said Mr. Madhav.
Former MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju said that only BJP has the strength to oppose the YSR Congress Party’s rule and speak against their alleged high-handedness.
