New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday made several new appointments in its national team, including promoting Vinod Tawde to the post of general secretary and nominating Rituraj Sinha as its national secretary.
The appointments take place ahead of assembly elections in five states, including politically important Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand, and party sources said this would give more strength to the organization ahead of these elections.
BJP president JP Nadda made the appointments and it was announced by party general secretary Arun Singh in an official statement.
Tawde, who was BJP’s national secretary, was promoted to the post of general secretary to fill the vacancy that had arisen after Bhupendra Yadav became a union minister.
Similarly, the BJP appointed two new national secretaries – Sinha and Asha Lakhra.
The party also appointed two new spokespersons, Bharti Ghosh, a former IPS officer from West Bengal, and Shahzad Poonawalla.
