Guwahati: BJPThe parliamentary body on Monday appointed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Law Minister Kiren Rijiju To oversee the ‘Election’ of the Legislature Party Leader in Manipur, which has given impetus to the process of nominating the new Chief Minister of the State.
National General Secretary of BJP Arun Singh A statement issued on Monday said that a central observer and co-supervisor in the Manipur Legislative Assembly has been appointed “for the election of the leader of the Legislative Party”. The suspense over who will be the chief minister, which the BJP has been keeping since the election results were announced on Thursday, has now entered the final phase with the appointment of observers. A source said the new chief minister is likely to take charge before Holi, one of the biggest five-day festivals in the state.

BJP has secured absolute majority with 32 members and will form the government on its own. This will be the second successive BJP government. In 2017, however, the BJP had to take the support of several other parties to form its first government in the state.
