The BJP emerged as the single largest party in the Vijayapura Municipal Corporation elections, but fell short of a clear majority. The counting of votes ended on October 31 at 1 pm.
Out of 35 wards, BJP 17, Congress 10, AIMIM 2 And in one ward the JD(S) candidate was declared elected. Independents were elected in the remaining five wards.
Party sources said the BJP is expected to come to power in the corporation with the help of independent candidates.
