February 13 is officially the last day of the first phase of the budget session. However, some parties have demanded its abolition on Friday. A BJP source said that the whip has been issued because the general discussion on the budget is going on on December 16.
The sixteenth proceedings were taken up on Wednesday due to non-availability of required members. According to sources the BBC is unhappy with the leadership. However, some party leaders said that February 10 could still be the last day of the first phase of the session.
It is noteworthy that the opposition members, especially in the Rajya Sabha, have been continuously raising the issue of the Adani-Hindenburg dispute. They are demanding a joint action committee to investigate the matter. In the Upper House on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was replying to the discussion on the motion of thanks to the President’s address, when some opposition members, including the Congress, raised slogans on Adani issues.
