Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav On Monday, he started traveling by metro train here to campaign for the upcoming civic polls and accused the BJP of “stopping” work on the public transport project.

He traveled from Singar Nagar Metro Station to Bhootnath Market Metro Station in the capital of Uttar Pradesh to campaign for his party’s mayoral candidate Vandana Mishra.

Yadav claimed that the work of Metro Rail was done during the tenure of the Samajwadi Party government, but nothing further happened in the current regime.

Attacking the BJP, the SP chief accused it of betraying the people and said it “has not cleaned up anywhere and has only increased filth and corruption”. Responding to a question on the metro rail in Gorakhpur, Yadav said, “Recently, I went to Gorakhpur where people were worried that the metro (rail) has not been built…”
