The Twitter account of BJP President JP Nadda was hacked on Sunday morning, following several tweets on the Ukraine crisis, including urging the account to send donations through cryptocurrency.

Mr. Nadda has a verified account on the microblogging platform with around 2.7 million followers.

“The Twitter account of the BJP National President was compromised for some time. It is now under control. We are talking to Twitter to find out the exact reason,” BJP sources said.

While Twitter confirmed that the account has been secured, it did not comment further on the issue.

An official source said the issue has also been reported to the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the matter is being probed.
