Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly Siddaramaiah on Sunday said the ruling BJP was trying to convert coastal Karnataka into a Hindutva laboratory for its political gains.

The former chief minister, who was in Udupi as part of Congress’ ‘Praja Dhvani’ programme, said people have realized the mindset of the BJP. He said that Congress believes in spreading love among people irrespective of their religion.
Siddaramaiah said terrorism of any kind should be condemned by all and those behind such activities should be severely punished.
He claimed that the BJP could not come back to power in Karnataka even with the prime minister. Narendra Modi And Home Minister Amit Shah has visited the state several times.
Siddaramaiah said he has decided to contest from Kolar in the assembly polls, but the party high command has to take a final call. The Congress leader expressed confidence that his party would win 130 seats in the upcoming elections. There are 224 seats in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
He said the party would significantly improve its position in the twin coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
