Rajkot: A week after the incident Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has filed a complaint of theft of 700 liters of high speed diesel worth about Rs 63,000 from its pipeline. Deendayal Port Kandla. BPCL Manager Ghanshyam Gulwani An FIR was registered at Kandla Marine Police Station on Saturday.
Gulwani said in his complaint that he had received information about the leakage from the pipeline on May 22 at around 6 am. After the supply stopped in the pipeline, he reached the spot and informed the fire brigade of DPT. They found no evidence of human presence or any equipment used in the theft.
It is feared that in the past someone had punctured the pipeline with the intention of stealing oil and then did not close it properly so that they could steal it again. However, due to the high pressure, the puncture opened and the pipeline started leaking.
Company employees and fire brigade maintained the pipeline and resumed supply from the ship. However, during an internal investigation, company officials found that 700 liters of oil had been stolen by thieves in the past.
