“British interpretation of…”: Former UK diplomat shares picture of dish he learned while living in Hyderabad

He prepared a dish that was a British interpretation of Indian cuisine

Food is an important part of cultural heritage and national identity. And when it comes to India, the country’s cuisine is quite wide and rich and tells the story of different regions across the country. Indian food is gaining popularity in the world at large. Recently, a former UK diplomat who served in India for 5 years shared how he prepared a dish which was a British interpretation of Indian cuisine.

Taking to Twitter, Dr. Andrew Fleming shared that his father was suffering from a chest infection, so he made something from him. He prepared prawn curry with rice and explained that he learned the dish during his five years in Hyderabad.

”As my previous post indicated my father was unwell, so the first night I had to go to the kitchen. And what better for someone with a chest infection than a good British interpretation of Indian cuisine with some secret add-ons that I learned during 5 years in #Hyderabad?’ wrote Mr Fleming sharing a picture of the dish.

Several users wished his father a speedy recovery and posted sweet messages in response.

Responding to the tweet, a user wrote, “You are a dutiful son, Dr. Fleming, and you father is lucky to have you as a son; Like you are lucky to have him as your father. After all, you are a good person, you are largely thanks to his upbringing.

Another commented, “Very sad to see that he is unwell. Hope he recovers from the fall fast. it’s so hard. Glad you can be with her. He will be very comfortable. And especially when it comes with a side of Indian-inspired home cooking!”

A third said, “I am sure the delicious looking dish has lifted uncle’s spirits and he is feeling great again.”

Last year, India was ranked fifth in the global list of best cuisines for 2022 Taste Atlas, India got a score of 4.54 and the country’s best rated food items included “garam masala, malai, ghee, butter garlic naan, keema”.
