Abi was wearing a black lace corset dress.
Making an impressive entrance at prom is a long-standing tradition, but a British teen has taken the practice to a whole new level by arriving in a casket.
According to Metro, Abi Ricketts, 16, made a big impression at Trinity Academy when she arrived in a black Volvo XC90 wearing a black lace corset dress, lace tights and boots. His father and brother were also chosen to play the role of the Undertaker before “coming back to life” on the red carpet.
The elaborate stunt was meant to be a tribute to Abi’s grandmother, Margaret, who supported their arrival plan – but sadly she died earlier this year aged 76. Abi arrived at the school in a 6-foot coffin, her eyes closed and her arms crossed, as if she were dead on arrival.
She explained the origin of the idea in her statement, “I never wanted to fit in. I always wanted to be outside the realm and outside the norm.”
She said, “I’ve always wanted to stand out and never follow the crowd. My favorite movie of all time is Lost Boys, so I love the vampire aesthetic.”
She continued, “I’ve been interested in goth metal head stuff since I was about four years old and it was an idea I first talked to my nan about. She was very agreeable but about four months He passed away first.”
“I knew I had to do it to honor her. We’re a family of goths so my family thought it was great too.”
