BRS Working President and IT Minister KT Rama Rao condemned the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as undemocratic and indicative of conspiracy and vendetta politics by the BJP government at the Centre.
In a statement issued on Sunday night, Mr. Rama Rao alleged that the Center was misusing enforcement and investigative agencies to harass and victimize leaders of opposition parties, especially those who opposed its (BJP/Centre) policies. But raising questions. He said Mr. Sisodia’s arrest is part of the BJP’s conspiracy to weaken the parties that are ruling states where it (BJP) is unable to come to power even through undemocratic means.
Shri Rama Rao said that the BJP’s ‘conspiracy’ against the opposition parties in the country was against all democratic norms and Mr. Sisodia’s arrest was an example of the culmination of its (BJP’s) politics of oppression. He said that unable to face the defeat in the mayoral election of Delhi and the BJP government at the Center had resorted to his arrest because of the Supreme Court’s rebuke.
Describing such “spineless politics” as a sign of BJP’s weakness, the BRS leader said the Center was only targeting leaders of those parties who were not listening to it and its incompetent policies that were harming the country. But raising questions. At the same time, the BJP was portraying even the most corrupt leaders in its ranks as examples of righteousness.
Stating that the people of the country were witnessing the “immoral and evil politics” of the BJP, Shri Rama Rao said that people were waiting for an opportunity to rebuke the party. “They know how the BJP undemocratically removed the opposition-led governments in nine states”. He warned BJP leaders of facing similar consequences after being voted out of power.
Referring to Telangana, he said the BJP’s plan to poach MLAs in the state was exposed even before it destabilized the BRS government.
In a separate statement, Finance Minister Harish Rao condemned the arrests.
