HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has criticised the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud for his comments that it was farmers from Andhra region who had taught about agriculture to the farming community of Telangana.
“It’s nothing but insulting the farming community of Telangana who have been engaged in farming in their own style for ages, former minister V. Prashanth Reddy said on Monday. Such statements by the Congress leaders clearly indicate their psyche to please the Andhra rulers who had opposed formation of Telangana tooth and nail.
It appears that the Congress leaders had forgotten the fact that they were very much in their own State – Telangana. It was unfortunate that those who don’t know anything about Telangana agriculture had become the rulers now, Mr. Prashanth Reddy said adding that Telangana was known for crop diversity or diversity in farming by cultivating cereals, pulses, oilseeds, commercial crops, spices and others against mostly paddy in Andhra region.
The BRS leaders reminded the TPCC chief that the Deccan region had the history of raising paddy as long as thousand years ago. His comments amounted to grossly insulting the Telangana farmers who are experts in farming in their own way and demanded that Mr. Mahesh Goud tender an unconditional apology not only to the farming community of Telangana but the entire society.
