South Korean music group BTS will meet with President Joe Biden next week on May 31, to discuss anti-Asian hate crimes and celebrate Asian American (AA) and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (NHPI) Heritage Month. According to Deadline, the Grammy-nominated septet — featuring RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook — will visit the White House on Tuesday.
“President Biden previously spoke about his commitment to combating the rise of anti-Asian hate crimes and in May 2021, law enforcement with the resources to enforce, investigate and report hate crimes, and ensure The COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act was signed to provide the U.S. President’s official residence and workplace, the White House, in a statement to make “hate crimes information more accessible to the AA and NHPI communities.”
“President Biden and BTS will discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion, and as youth ambassadors on the BTS platform, who spread the message of hope and positivity around the world,” the statement added.
