Motivational speaker and charity ambassador Guerguev has completed nearly 30 ultra-marathons around the world from the Arctic to Cambodia, as well as 217 kilometers in Death Valley, California.

Bulgarian ultra-marathon runner Krase Guerguev will live in a glass box in a Sofia park for 15 days to raise funds to help young people fight addictions. Motivational speaker and charity ambassador Guerguev has completed nearly 30 ultra-marathons around the world from the Arctic to Cambodia, as well as 217 kilometers in Death Valley, California. “I want to challenge myself,” Guerguev told Reuters. “I want to show how when you put someone in a box they change psychologically.”

The funds raised will be used for various projects to prevent addiction among children under the age of 18 including drugs, alcohol, digital media and energy drinks.

A box with three glass walls is placed on a pedestal in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. Guerguev, who begins his experiment on Sunday, will have a bed and a treadmill and no access to books, computers or phones, speaking to the public for only 30 minutes each day.

“It’s not a physical experiment. It’s a psychological experiment,” he said.

In 2019 Guerguiev ran 1,200 kilometers (about 746 miles) through Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania to urge governments to build better infrastructure to connect people.

In 2003, American magician David Blaine spent 44 days sealed in a transparent box suspended over the banks of the River Thames in London, with only water to drink, criticized by the media and public at the time.
