Business Development, Marketing, Sales Top Emerging Skills in India: LinkedIn Survey

As more organizations adopt a hybrid mode of work, the skill sets for the jobs are changing, and new ones have emerged. In these transformational times, learning in-demand skills can ensure greater access to opportunities. To help people identify these skills and secure their careers in the future, LinkedIn has launched new upskilling data with ‘Skills Evolution 2022’ and ‘Future of Skills 2022’.

Based on member skills data from LinkedIn’s 92 million members in India, the Skill Development Report covers the top 10 emerging skills that have experienced month-on-month exponential growth in 2021. Additionally, the Future of Skills 2022 data displays the top growing skills popular jobs and industries today, based on skills Indian professionals added to their profiles in 2021.

Developing skills in some of the fastest growing industries in India –

education:
Skills in India have changed an average of 33.5% since 2015.
– 7 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.
Interestingly, the top emerging skills for the industry remain tech-heavy.

corporate Services:
– In India, skills have changed on average 41.6 percent since 2015
– 9 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

Software and IT Services:
– In India, skills have changed on average 29.9 percent since 2015
– 6 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

Media and Communication:
In India, skills have changed an average of 26.1 percent since 2015
– 6 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

consumer goods:
– In India, skills have changed on average 34.4 percent since 2015
– 9 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

Health care:
– In India, skills have changed on average 30.2 percent since 2015
– 5 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

Production:
Skills in India have changed an average of 25.8 per cent since 2015.
– 6 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

Hardware and Networking:
In India, skills have changed an average of 32.5 per cent since 2015 – slightly higher than the country’s average (29%).
– 8 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

finance:
Skills in India have changed an average of 28.4% since 2015.
– 7 of the top 10 emerging skills in the industry are new as of 2015.

More members are displaying skills and are being hired as new skills. In 2021 alone, 286 million skills were added to member profiles. At least 45 percent of hires on LinkedIn apparently use skills data to fill their roles on LinkedIn, up 13 percent year over year. Globally, the skill sets for jobs have changed by about 25 per cent in the last five years and are expected to change by 41 per cent by 2025.
