Can you guess where this picture of “One of the Cleanest Rivers in the World” was clicked?

The water of Umangot river is so clear that the river bed can be seen.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti has shared an incredible picture of a boat floating on a river in Meghalaya which is currently going viral on Twitter. The water of the river is so clear and transparent that greenery and boulders are clearly visible at the bottom and the boat seems to be flying in the middle of the air instead of floating on the water. According to the tweet, in the picture is the Umngot river of Meghalaya. The ministry thanked the people of the state for keeping the rivers clean.

The Umangot River is located at a distance of about 100 km from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. The Ministry of Jal Shakti said it is “one of the cleanest rivers in the world”.

“I wish all our rivers were as clean. Salute to the people of Meghalaya,” the ministry wrote.

The image shows the boat carrying five people, including one aboard. It has garnered more than 19,000 likes and more than 3,000 retweets since it was shared on Tuesday morning.

While some were stunned to see the image, many said that now that a large number of people came to know about the Umngot river, they rushed to pollute it too.

A man asked, “When will the Yamuna river be like this?”

One user said that the river was clean due to low population density.

Another claimed that “most of the rivers in Arunachal Pradesh are equally clear.”

This person thought “the image is photoshopped.”

A major cause of river pollution in India is the flow of city and industrial waste into them. Delhi Jal Board recently had to deploy people Sprinkle water in Yamuna river to keep away the dirty froth Banks during Chhath Puja
