Caste Commission gave clean chit to former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede, said- he is from SC community not Muslim. India News – Times of India

Mumbai: Sameer, former Mumbai Regional Director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) WankhedeAn official said on Saturday that an inquiry was being conducted into the allegations of submission of fake caste certificates to get a government job, which was given a clean chit by the caste inquiry committee. An official said that this order was issued by the Social Justice Department of Maharashtra Government on Friday.
The order said that the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Wankhede was not a Muslim by birth and it has been proved that he belongs to the Mahar caste, which is a Scheduled Caste (SC).

The issue of Wankhede’s caste was raised by former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik. The applications were filed by the complainants including political leaders Manoj Sansare, Ashok Kamble and Sanjay KambleAgainst Wankhede
The Mumbai District Caste Certificate Verification Committee examined the complaints and passed an order on the same on Friday.
The order said that it was not proved that Wankhede and his father Gyandev Wankhede had renounced Hinduism and duly converted. Islam,
It is proved that Wankhede and his father-in-law Mahar-37 belong to the Scheduled Castes, the order said.
The order said that the complaints filed by Nawab Malik and others regarding the caste claim of Wankhede and religion of the caste certificate are not substantiated, following which the complaints are being dismissed for lack of facts in the complaint.
Wankhede came into limelight after the high-profile October, 2021 raid on a Mumbai cruise by the NCB, following which the agency arrested the actor’s son Aryan Khan. Shahrukh Khan, and 19 others and also claimed to have seized some narcotics. NCB later gave clean chit to Aryan Khan. PTI DC NP NP
