The CBI has filed a charge sheet against retired Allahabad High Court judge Justice SN Shukla in a corruption case, officials said.
He said the agency has filed a charge sheet against Justice Shukla after getting permission from the government to prosecute the retired judge.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with other accused had registered a case against Justice Shukla in December 2019 under section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency, in its FIR, had also named Justice Shukla of Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, retired Chhattisgarh High Court judge IM Quddusi, Bhagwan Prasad Yadav and Palash Yadav of Prasad Education Trust, the trust itself and private individuals Bhavna Pandey. And Sudhir Giri, he said.
The chargesheet also includes the names of several other accused in the FIR.
It is alleged that Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences was barred from admitting students in May 2017 due to substandard facilities and non-fulfilment of required criteria, along with 46 other medical colleges on the same grounds. was gone, the officials said. ,

After this, the people named in the FIR hatched a conspiracy and withdrew the petition with the permission of the court.
On August 24, 2017, another writ petition was filed before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court, officials said.
He said the FIR further alleged that the petition was heard by a division bench of Justice Shukla on August 25, 2017 and a favorable order was passed on the same day.

The then Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra took note of this and constituted a three-member internal committee to look into the allegations.
A three-judge Supreme Court internal committee comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee of the Madras High Court, Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court SK Agnihotri and Justice PK Jaiswal of the Madhya Pradesh High Court had concluded that the allegations contained substantial substance. The complaint against Justice Shukla and that the aberration was so serious that proceedings were sought to be initiated for his removal.
After receiving the report, Justice Mishra in 2018 asked Justice Shukla to resign or take voluntary retirement, but he refused to do so, following which he was stripped of his judicial work.
On March 23, 2019, Justice Shukla wrote to the then CJI Ranjan Gogoi seeking permission to start his judicial work in the Allahabad High Court.
After this, Justice Gogoi wrote a letter to the Prime Minister demanding the removal of Justice Shukla.
Sources said the CBI does not need sanction to prosecute Quddusi as he was a retired judge at the time of the alleged offense and was acting in the capacity of a private person.
According to the High Court website, Shukla had joined the Allahabad High Court on October 5, 2005 and retired on July 17, 2020.
