New Delhi:

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will remain in CBI custody for two more days, a court ruled on Saturday. Aam Aadmi Party leader facing probe in Delhi Liquor Policy matter has applied for bail.

In his bail request, Manish Sisodia said that keeping him in custody “will not serve any worthwhile purpose” as all the seizures have already been made in the case.

Mr Sisodia is facing an allegation of corruption in formulating a liquor policy for the national capital, which was quashed after Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena flagged off the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The 51-year-old was arrested by the CBI on Sunday evening on charges of alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the scrapped liquor policy for 2021-22. Jain is currently in Tihar Jail in a money laundering case. He resigned from the Delhi cabinet on Tuesday.

A day after his arrest, Sisodia challenged the CBI’s move in the Supreme Court. The court, however, told him that he should have gone to the High Court, following which Mr. Sisodia withdrew his application and said he would go to the trial court.

The probe agency is expected to seek Mr Sisodia’s further custody today.

Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force and Central Reserve Police Force are deployed outside the CBI headquarters in Delhi as the agency prepares to produce Manish Sisodia in court at the end of his 5-day remand.
