CBI raids Gujarat IAS officer’s premises in corruption case, arrests his associate

CBI raids office, residence of Gujarat cadre IAS Rajesh in corruption case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday raided the premises belonging to a 2011 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer. Simultaneous raids were conducted in Gandhinagar, Surendranagar, Surat and the officer’s home state of Andhra Pradesh.

The CBI conducted searches at the officer’s premises in connection with a corruption case registered by the Delhi unit of the premier investigating agency. During interrogation, the officer has been identified as K Rajesh.

Mohammad Rafiq Memon, who used to work as middleman of IAS officer and who used to collect bribe money for him, has been arrested from Surat.

K Rajesh had a tainted tenure while posted in Saurashtra, Gujarat. Several corruption complaints were filed against him. He was also transferred to the Home Department after the Anti-Corruption Bureau filed a complaint against him.

K Rajesh is presently working as Joint Secretary in the General Administration Department, Government of Gujarat at Gandhinagar.

There is already a high level inquiry going on against him. The investigation is being done by a retired officer of the level of Additional Chief Secretary.

The IAS officer is accused of giving arms licenses to the ineligible in exchange for money.
