CBSE Class 10 Maths Exam Analysis: The paper is easy but lengthy, say students

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Today, May 5th, the class 2nd class 10 maths exam was conducted. According to the students, the Mathematics paper was quite easy, however, it was a bit lengthy. While some questions were easy, some were difficult and time-consuming as it required step-by-step answers. Students say that the questions asked were as per the syllabus. The exam was conducted from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. It had a total of 40 marks.

“Today’s maths paper was quite easy but a bit lengthy. Students with great knowledge of the syllabus would have completed the paper in given time. Some questions were easy but it was really time consuming to write the answer step by step. All questions were as per syllabus only and on expected lines,” said Aashika Thakur, class 10th, Geeta Bal Bharti, Rajgarh Colony, Delhi.

The exam pattern includes step marking, so even if the students have attempted the questions and have some correct steps in the maths question, it will help to score some marks. “In the exam, there will be step marking to help the students. so attempt all the questions Relevant steps although you don’t know the whole answer will be Help grabbing points. For example in height and distance, you can visualize the figures and give ratios which are helpful in getting the answer,” said Shailja Dubey, PGT Math, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow.

All the questions were based on the topics mentioned in Term-2 CBSE syllabus. The standard question paper was difficult and some questions were application based. Amity International School, Sector 46 Gurgaon said, there were some HOT questions especially in set 1 and set 3. The case study based on arithmetic progression required logical and analytical thinking.

The Basic Maths paper (code-241) was well balanced. Most of the questions were easy and NCERT based. However one question of the applications of trigonometry was variable which the students found difficult.

The difficulty level of class 10 maths exam was easy to moderate. Sarman Singh, PGT, Mathematics, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow said that each section had standard questions, but sections A and B were relatively easy.

“In Section-C, there were two standard questions: one of them was from the chapter ‘Circle’ and the other was from ‘Quadra Equation’. The question of ‘Circle’ was directly from NCERT example and the other was easy to solve if the student had Have a basic understanding of the subject. Section-C also has two case-study based questions which are easy to understand.

While the Term 1 exam was based on MCQs, this time the students had to write the answers and steps in the maths test. In the previous term, all they had to do was mark the answers. The students gave their written examination after a gap of almost two years.

The board had earlier conducted the class 10 English exam on April 27.Whoever was “well prepared” and according to the sample paper. There were enough internal choices in the exam and students were able to do it within the stipulated time. Experts said there was time for revision as well.
