CBSE recognizes 1,092 schools in the first phase

The state government has set the ball rolling for all the schools in the state to secure affiliation with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

As a first step towards achieving its target, CBSE has agreed in principle to recognize 1,092 schools in the first phase, and the central curriculum will be implemented in the first batch of selected schools from the academic year 2022. Students of class 9 who will be admitted in April 2022 will appear in the central board examinations in 2024.

Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh said, “The academic year 2024-25 will be a historic year for the education sector in Andhra Pradesh as students will appear for CBSE exams for the first time.”

He said that work has already started on this front. “We have revised the syllabus and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has been entrusted with the task of constituting a panel of experts,” he said, adding that the chief minister was keen to transfer the students of the state to the central board. . courses, which had high standards and which enabled them to compete at a global level. “We want our students to write nationally recognized exams and we have already set the process in motion,” he said.

There are around 6,000 high schools (class 6 to 10) in the state in which about 5 lakh students are writing their 10th class board exams. Suresh said, “We have directed the officials of the School Education Department to maintain high standards while designing the curriculum of the lower classes so that there is a smooth transition to the CBSE syllabus in the higher classes.”

Principal Secretary, School Education, B. Rajasekhar and Col V. Ramulu, in-charge of the AP Residential Educational Institutions Society, had met CBSE Chairman Manoj Ahuja and Secretary Anurag Tripathi a few weeks ago in Delhi. Central board officials laid out the conditions for affiliation, and state officials realized that around 1,000 schools in the state had the necessary infrastructure and would be eligible for affiliation. “For the convenience of affiliation, the board officials extended the deadline of October 31 by one month and also allowed payment of affiliation fee in one go,” Mr. Ramulu said.
