CBSE Term 1 Result 2022: List of errors in question papers that will give full marks to all students

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Term 1 results will be declared soon. Though the board has not yet announced the exact dates but the result is expected within this month. Currently the OMR sheet is being evaluated. Apart from checking, CBSE will also verify the errors raised by teachers, students and other stakeholders in its first MCQ-based examinations.

CBSE has a mechanism to review the challenges raised and incorporate changes if the challenges are accepted. If any question is found wrong, the board usually awards marks to all the students. This year also, the board will give full marks to students for an error in class 10 English paper and class 12 sociology paper.

Comprehension passages asked in class 10 english exam Showed women in a bad light. “Wives stop obeying their husbands and that is the main reason why children and servants are undisciplined,” read the passage. It states, “Women’s attainment of independence is the main cause of various social and family problems.” The question then asks the students to comment on the tone of the passage and one of the choices was “The author is a malevolent pig”. The question raised an eyebrow and after that the board decided to leave the passage and give full marks to all the candidates for the question, irrespective of the student’s reaction.

Class 12 Sociology MCQs

CBSE Class 12 Sociology exam asked a question on Gujarat Violence. “Under which government did the unprecedented level and spread of anti-Muslim violence in Gujarat take place in 2002?”, read the question and the options included names of political parties.

After the exam, CBSE apologized for the question saying, “A question has been asked in today’s Class 12 Sociology Term 1 exam which is unfair and is in violation of CBSE guidelines for external subject experts to set the question paper.” CBSE accepts the error committed and will take strict action against the responsible persons.” The board will also provide full marks on this MCQs. Each MCQ carries 0.8 marks.

Other Errors in CBSE Term I Exam

Apart from these two errors, there were some errors pointed out by teachers and students including question numbers 13 and 14 of Class 10 English which had only answers/options but no questions.

Still Class 12 audit was not as per pattern Suggested by the board in the sample question papers. While the sample paper suggested that students would be asked to solve 45 out of 55 questions in the exam, they were given 48 questions out of which they had to answer 40. Later a circular was issued in which it was said that the board will give grace marks. But CBSE said that the board had not sent any circular and it was fake. As claimed by the teachers and students, many question papers have also been tough in I word and some questions were out of syllabus.

There was also something in class 12 sociology paper questions that were off the syllabus and difficult to solve, the teachers said while the political Science paper had some “vague” questions And this some of the economics papers were Tricky question. However, CBSE did not say anything about giving full marks for any of these errors.

CBSE was releasing the answer key on the very first exam day itself. It also asked teachers to investigate OMR sheet based on same day answer key But was later closed. Several teachers claimed that there were errors in the answer keys, as well as the question papers, and demanded that Assessment should be conducted digitally to avoid errors. However, some teachers believed that there was room for improvement in offline assessment. The board has also admitted that there may be errors in the question papers and answer keys, however, assured the students that there is a redressal mechanism in place to address their concerns.
