CCPA Investigation Ola, Rapido, Other Ride-Helling Apps on Advanced Tipping

New Delhi, May 22 (PTI) Consumer Protection Watchdog CCPA is checking ride—hiling platforms such as CCPA Ola Cab and Rapido, to find out if they are involved in improper trade practice of ‘advanced tipping’.

On Wednesday, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued a notice to users to pay advance tips for rapid service to Uber allegedly “forced or naked” Uber.

Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said in a post on X, “CCPA is examining other apps like @LACABS and @Rapidobikeapp, if he is found involved in such practices, they will also be given notice.”

Joshi said on Wednesday that the practice of ‘advanced tip’ was deeply.

The minister said, “Forcing or naked to pay a tip in advance for rapid service is immoral and exploitative. Such action comes under improper trade practices,” the minister said that tipping means as a token of praise, not given the service after completion of the service, not as an entryment. PTI MJH Hair
