CCTV shows abduction of Telangana teen, father alleges she was thrashed

Telangana: One of the accused belonged to the girl’s village, her father said.

Hyderabad:

An 18-year-old woman was allegedly abducted in a car by a gang of four in Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday morning. The incident took place at Mudepalle village in Chandurthi mandal of the district around 5.30 am when the college student and her father were on their way to a temple, police said.

Nearby CCTV cameras captured the moment when the kidnappers forced the woman into their car and fled. In videos broadcast by local TV channels, the girl’s father is seen trying in vain to save her.

Later, a police complaint was lodged by the victim’s father alleging that the gang had thrashed him before abducting his daughter. He said that one of the accused belonged to the girl’s village.

According to the police, a few months ago, the 24-year-old suspect had eloped with the teenager, but the police counseled him and he was handed over to her parents.

On Monday, the accused came to know that the marriage of the woman was fixed with some other person, after which he along with his friends conspired to kidnap her.

A case was registered and special teams were formed to arrest the accused and rescue the girl.
