pharmaceutical company zydus cadilla Government sources said on Thursday that India will supply 10 million doses of the world’s first plasmid DNA COVID-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to the government by December.
He said that the Center has placed a preliminary order for one crore doses of the vaccine.
Earlier, the Center had ordered to supply one crore doses. ZyCoV-D Feather 265 per dose and needle free applicator is being offered 93 per dose, excluding GST.
ZyCoV-D is the world’s first DNA plasmid vaccine for human use, indigenously developed by the company against the COVID-19 virus. It is also the first COVID-19 vaccine that is needle-free and administered using Pharmajet, a needle-free applicator to ensure painless intradermal vaccine delivery, leading to a significant reduction in any major side effects .
ZyCoV-D has shown good stability at a temperature of about 25 degrees for at least three months. The thermostability of the vaccine will help in easy transportation and storage of the vaccine without the problem of temperature fluctuations.
For long-term use, a temperature of 2-8 degrees is sufficient. Being a DNA plasmid vaccine, ZyCoV-D does not have any problems associated with vector-based immunity. The DNA plasmid platform allows new constructs to be quickly created to combat mutations in viruses.
