As per the Economic Times report, the CEO of CESL, Mahua Acharyahas confirmed that ‘qualified’ demand has been received for 3,500 EVs, for which a tender will be floated shortly. The fresh tender comes at a time when the adoption of four wheeler EVs is gaining momentum and EV sales are set to cross the 50,000 unit mark for the first time. According to Acharya, the latest CESL tender for 3,500 EVs could go up to 10,000 units within two years. Currently, there are around 600,000 petrol and diesel vehicles in use between the central and state governments in the country.
