Produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Sharma’s Clean Slate Films, “Chakda Express” is directed by Prosit Roy.
“It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Express It is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and will be an eye-opener in the world of women’s cricket,” Anushka Sharma said in a statement released by the streamer on Thursday.
“At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very difficult for women to even think of playing the sport. The film is a dramatic retelling of the many examples that shaped her life and women’s cricket as well,” the actor said, calling the film “a Dalit story in the history of Indian cricket”.

When you come on the pitch to bowl, you see that the opponent is cricket. The bat is holding and you need to knock out the stumps,” said the cricketer, who hails from Chakdaha town in West Bengal’s Nadia district.
“Team India is not just the roar of the cheers and prayers of 1.3 billion people. Sometimes, a girl from Chakda plays a game of cricket when her team trembles, screams, and rises together when the stumps are eventually out,” she said.
The all-rounder said, “Chakda Express is shooting for the film now. See you on the field.”
