More than 200 rose-ringed parrots have been brought to the Besant Memorial Animal Dispensary in Chennai. They are among more than 600 parrots rescued in Trichy. A volunteer at the dispensary said the rescues are less than a week old and will be given special attention and care for about two months before being released into the wild. Rose-ringed parrots are among the most sought after birds, with a pair costing up to Rs 5,000.
