Patna (Bihar) [India], 27 October (ANI): As Chhath is near. Artists and students from Bihar performed Chhath Puja painting, 21 feet long and 15 feet wide, on the river Ganges in a joint effort.

Chhath Puja is one of the most auspicious festivals in Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The four-day long festival begins with the ritual ‘Nahai Khai’, Kharna is celebrated the next day, ends with ‘Sandhya Arghya’ and ‘Usha Arghya’ (prayer to the rising sun) on the third day.

The festival is dedicated to the Sun God (Sun God), who is believed by the people to sustain life on earth.

People worship the Sun God during the festival, which will be celebrated between October 28-31 this year.

Speaking to ANI about the painting, Vivekananda Pandey, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University said, “This festival shows that both sunrise and sunset are very important. Another thing that is important is ritual purity. We want the message of this festival to reach the world. We will submit this painting to the World Book of Records so that the whole world can see it.”

Ankita, a student of Amity University, said, “The painting depicts two main characters, Draupadi and Goddess Sita, who started this auspicious festival of Chhath.”

He said, “The painting is made from Indian fabrics like cotton fabric and authentic colors. Through this painting we wanted to give a message that Chhath is not only for the old generation but how the new generation can contribute to this festival.

Another student Shalini said, “When we started, we found that there was no record on Chhath Mahaparv and we aim to establish one using the art and culture of Bihar. We have used natural products like turmeric, indigo, sandalwood powder to make it.” (ANI)
