Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath 2,955 was released. 36 crore as pension to more than 98 lakh beneficiaries on Wednesday.
These funds will cover the first quarter of this year and were distributed to the beneficiaries of Old Age Pension, Disability Pension, Leprosy Pension and Nirakrit Mahila Pension.
For January to March, the amount was directly transferred to the accounts of 56 lakh elderly persons, 31 lakh destitute women, 11.17 lakh disabled people and 11,400 leprosy patients. The CM also held virtual interactions with the beneficiaries of Bijnor, Varanasi, Saharanpur, Chitrakoot and Deoria.
“The government understands the sentiments of every underprivileged person and the needy including the elderly, destitute women and Divyangjan. In light of this the government has doubled the monthly pension for all these categories. Before 2017, the pension for the disabled was Rs 300. After we got elected, we first increased it to Rs 500 and then to Rs 1,000,” the CM said.
The Chief Minister talked about the various welfare schemes launched by his government in the last five years and said that till 2017 only 37.47 lakh elderly people were getting pension of Rs 500 per month. Now it has been increased three times, he said, adding that not only have 47 new beneficiaries been added to the list 19. But now they are getting Rs 3,000 every quarter. Apart from this, 13.68 lakh additional destitute women, 2.34 lakh new disabled persons and 6,665 additional leprosy patients are also getting pension now.
“While the government is making every effort to create awareness about its various welfare schemes, all the beneficiaries should also publicize this so that if any eligible is missed, they can also enroll for the scheme. . We want to ensure that every single eligible person gets the benefits of these schemes,” the CM said.
Speaking about the Covid-19 pandemic and the challenges posed by it, the CM said that a family that had lost a member to the pandemic was entitled to Rs 50,000 as assistance by the government. The government had also started Chief Minister Balu service plan For the education and maintenance of children.
