Citroen is set to announce the prices for its much-awaited made-in-India hatchback, the C3 on July 20, 2022. Based on the company’s CMP platform, the C3 will be Citroen’s first model targeted at the mass market segment alongside the major rivals. Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The C3 is set to be one of three new models for the Indian market under the French carmaker’s C-cubed program, with two other big market models to follow.
While it is being billed as a hatchback, the C3 gets a lot of crossover design cues. The design up front is distinctly Citroen with split headlamps and double chevron at the center of the grille. Upright stances add to the crossover look, along with prominent central air vents and liberal use of black cladding and faux skid plate elements. At the bottom too, there is body cladding around the base of the doors and wheel arches. The rear also features a black cladding bumper with faux skid-plate element.
The cabin inside looks pretty clean, with the biggest highlight being the 10.2-inch touchscreen, with wireless Android Auto and CarPlay on the top model. The dashboard on the top model may come with either orange or brown panel inserts depending on the exterior colour. In terms of equipment, the C3 will pack in a kit like manual air conditioning, front and rear power windows, keyless entry, digital instrument cluster, height adjustable driver seat, dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors. The C3 will be available in two variants – Live and Feel and will come with a host of customization options.
Citroen is offering two engine options – a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mill. Both are three-cylinder units. The naturally aspirated petrol develops 81 bhp at 5,750 rpm and 115 Nm at 3,750 rpm and is available with a 5-speed manual, while the turbo-petrol outputs 109 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 190 Nm at 1,750 rpm and is fully could be from. 6-speed manual. The naturally aspirated petrol will be available in both the variants while the turbo-petrol is limited to the top-spec feel.
Talking about the price, the base model of the C3 range is expected to start in the region of Rs.6 lakhs. Meanwhile, the fully loaded turbo-petrol is expected to be priced in the region of Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
