Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday inaugurated the renovated bus stand in Thiruvattar through video conference.
The bus stand was renovated at a coast of ₹2.55 crores and Dairy Development Minister T. Mano Thangaraj presided over the event organised at the venue, following the virtual inauguration.
Speaking the event Mr. Mano Thangaraj said that this is the third renovated and upgraded bus stand in the Kanniyakumari district, to be inaugurated during the tenure of the current government. He added that currently three more bus stands located in Kulasekaram, Kaliyakkavilai and Thuckalay were under renovation and upgradation, with funds for these projects had already been allocated.
He noted that for the past 45 years various protests had been held in Kanniyakumari district demanding the issuance of land pattas. Due to the joint efforts of district administration and officials from various departments, more that 14,000 people had now been granted different types of land pattas.
Mr. Mano Thangaraj further mentioned that, the Thiruvattar bus stand had been renovated on a total area of 48.50 cents with 12 shops in ground floor and 6 shops in first floor. Necessary amenities like separate rooms for nursing mothers, waiting areas, purified drinking water facility, ramp for differently abled persons had also been constructed in the bus stand.
Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena and other officials were present at the event.
