Coal India Limited said that it is set to record its highest ever production of 620 million tonnes during the financial year 2021-22. Till March 28, the production for the current fiscal stood at 614.4 million tonnes.
“We have crossed the previous high level of production… and may be around 622 million tonnes by the end of the year,” an official told PTI. Coal dispatch for 2021-22 is expected to exceed 660 million tonnes.
The Center had set an ambitious target of 670 million tonnes of production for the current fiscal. The miner had earlier said that it is targeting 640 million tonnes for 2021-22.
In 2019-20, the company had produced 602 million tonnes of coal, and in 2020-21 the production was 596 million tonnes.
