Coal India’s production rose to 159.75 million tonnes (MT) in the April-June period.

Coal India Ltd on Wednesday reported a nearly three-fold increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 8,832.86 crore for the June quarter 2022-23 on the back of higher sales.
Coal India Limited (CIL) in a filing to BSE said that the company had posted a net profit of Rs 3,169.86 crore in the year-ago period.
Revenue from operations during the April-June period rose to Rs 35,092.17 crore from Rs 25,282.75 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Net sales rose to Rs 32,497.9 crore in the first quarter from Rs 23,293.65 crore earlier.
The company’s production during the April-June period increased to 159.75 million tonnes (MT) from 123.98 MT in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Coal India contributes more than 80 percent of the domestic coal production. The company is eyeing to produce one billion tonnes by 2023-24.
Shares of the company closed at Rs 219.85 on BSE, up 2.02 per cent from the previous close.
