Domestic coal production rises to 33.94 million tonnes in first half of May
Domestic coal production increased to 33.94 million tonnes in the first half of May, a growth of 36.23 per cent as compared to 24.91 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.
The total coal dispatch up to 15th May, 2022 was 37.18 million tonnes, showing an increase of 15.87 per cent over the corresponding period of last year.
Coal ministry data said the total coal shipments for the month of April stood at 71.77 million tonnes, registering a growth of 9.39 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
The total dry fuel production in the country increased to 67 million tonnes in April 2022, registering an impressive growth of 29.80 per cent, the ministry said in a statement.
Coal India Limited (CIL) has been instrumental in boosting production and recorded its highest monthly coal production of 53.47 million tonnes in April, a jump of 27.64 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
As on 15th May, the production of CIL stood at 26.35 million tonnes, which is 34.44 per cent higher than the production of 19.60 million tonnes during the corresponding period of last year.
