Coimbatore: Over 150 students, including 20 girls, of Sri Sakthi Engineering College at Bettathapuram near Karamadai on Friday staged a sit-in in front of the college, demanding action against the college principal for allegedly using abusive language against the students who complained demanded. About 320 students including 70 girl students are studying in the engineering college. Around 10.30 am on Friday morning, around 150 students sat on the road in front of the college campus.
One of the students named J Prashanth, 20, a third year BE (mechanic) student from Udhagamandalam in Nilgiris district, and three other students lodged a complaint with the college principal Prabhu about the poor quality of food, he said. Hostel. They reportedly found insects in the food. However, on October 11, the students were allegedly misbehaved by the principal of the college.

College President N Dharma Lingam and Periyanaikanapalayam police officers interacted with the students. The college president promised the students that he and the college correspondent Karthikeyan would meet the students once a month and resolve their grievances. He also promised him that he would thoroughly investigate the allegations leveled against the principal and appropriate action would be taken.
After the talks, the students withdrew the protest at around 12.45 pm and returned to their classes to attend their regular classes.
