A judicial commission set up to probe corruption allegations against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh on Wednesday rejected police officer Sachin Waje’s application to withdraw his statement. Waze had filed an affidavit stating that he wanted to withdraw his statement during his visit and said, “Not only Anil Deshmukh but people associated with him also asked me to take money from the bar or bar owners.”

To another question asked to him the same day, he also wanted to change his answer to, “Is it true, no person, either as private employee or people associated with Mr. Anil Deshmukh, ever demanded money from you? ” He had said “no” to me personally, although he would like to change his answer, “Yes, people associated with Mr. Anil Deshmukh demanded money from me, which I was directed to collect on behalf of Mr. Anil. was given. Deshmukh and/or his associates.”
The third question he was asked was, “Has anyone from Mr. Anil Deshmukh or Mr. Anil Deshmukh’s office asked you to take money from the bar or bar owners?” He replied, “I don’t remember.” He wants to change the answer to, “Not only Mr. Anil Deshmukh, but also the people associated with him asked me to do the same.”
The fourth question was, “Is it correct in the above situation, since you have not deposited any money, there was no opportunity for you to pay/offer anything by cash to Mr. Anil Deshmukh or the employees of Mr. Anil Deshmukh?” ” He said, “Yes, that’s right.” He wanted to withdraw his reply and said, “No, I handed over the cash to the people associated with Mr. Anil Deshmukh on his instructions.”
His affidavit also alleged, “I have always been subjected to severe mental harassment and torture by the then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and this has been continued even after his resignation.” Not only this, their representatives have been doing the same on their behalf. I am generally afflicted by Stockholm Syndrome at the hands of Mr. Anil Deshmukh, who continues to hold tremendous power and domination over me, my life, my future and the circumstances around me.
The case dates back to March 20, 2021 when Mr Singh wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleging that Mr Deshmukh had misused his position and powers to take illegal monetary gains. The letter alleged that Mr Deshmukh directed Mr Vaze and others to collect ₹100 crore from bars and restaurants in a month.
