Deepak Punia also entered the quarterfinals by winning his bout in men’s freestyle 86kg wrestling. Bhavnaben Patel has reached the final of the women’s singles para table tennis category 3-5. Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran have reached the quarterfinals of the table tennis mixed doubles event. The Indian pair defeated the Nigerian pair of Ojomu Ajok and Omotoyo Olajide in straight games. Sudhir on Thursday won a historic gold medal in men’s heavyweight para powerlifting, while in long jump, Murali Sreeshankar won a silver medal. Star runner Hima Das will also compete in the women’s 200m semifinal. In badminton, PV Sindhu will meet in the women’s singles round of 16.
