Vadodara: The families of 108 emergency service pilots (drivers) in Chhota Udepur, who succumbed to COVID-19, received financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh on Tuesday.
Raman Baria (45) contracted the virus during the second wave and died during treatment GMERS Medical College and Hospital On May 12 in Vadodara’s Gotri. Baria, a resident of Sankheda taluka of Chhota Udaipur, was an ambulance pilot with 108 services for 13 years. He was the only earning member of his family of four. After Baria’s death, the district administration and emergency services started the process so that his family could get assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package. “Procedures were carried out as per the rules and regulations laid down by the government and the family got the money directly in their bank account within a few months,” an official said. The family said that they did not expect to receive such a huge amount so soon.
